We’ve got some big news to share with our members and the wider internet community in the Northwest! The Clackamas Education Service District (CESD) has agreed to host a new NWAX site at the CESD data center in Clackamas, Oregon.
The addition of the Clackamas site is a major step forward. We’re thrilled to be bringing a new connection option to this area. This expansion makes NWAX accessible to organizations on the east side of Portland at a lower cost than many commercial facilities.
Our mission at NWAX has always been to improve the quality, reliability, and speed of internet service throughout the region. We do this by providing a local hub for traffic exchange. This helps our members reduce their reliance on costly and often roundabout network transit routes, which leads to lower latency and much better network efficiency.
Why does this matter? Simply put, it’s about keeping local traffic local. A core part of our mission is to build a more resilient and high-performing internet ecosystem for the Northwest. When networks can connect directly through NWAX, they get a more direct path for their data. This increases reliability and redundancy while also reducing latency and operational costs.
This new location complements our 11 existing sites, giving our members a broader geographic reach and making our exchange even more resilient. We’re excited to see this new site foster a stronger and more interconnected digital community in the Pacific Northwest.
